    Karachi records its first dengue death of 2026

    The first dengue-related death of the year has been reported in Karachi, with the affected patient belonging to the city’s East District.

    The Sindh Health Department confirmed that 198 dengue cases have been reported across the province so far this year.

    Of these, 163 cases were recorded in Karachi Division.

    Other divisions reported fewer cases, including 24 in Hyderabad Division, eight in Mirpur Khas Division, and three in Sukkur Division.

    Malaria cases continue to be significantly higher, with 20,123 reported across Sindh from January to April 7.

    In Karachi, 184 malaria cases were documented, including 88 in South District, 29 each in West and Malir Districts, 19 in Korangi District, 10 in East District, four in Kemari District, and five in Central District.

    Elsewhere in the province, malaria cases included 7,765 in Hyderabad Division, 2,205 in Sukkur Division, 5,468 in Larkana Division, 1,957 in Mirpur Khas Division, and 2,544 in Shaheed Benazirabad, according to a Sindh Health Department spokesperson.
