    KARACHI:

Sindh’s Minister for Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, has extended his greetings to artists and theatre enthusiasts on World Theatre Day, highlighting the importance of stage arts in shaping society.

In his message, the minister said theatre is not merely a form of entertainment but a powerful medium that reflects society and contributes to its reform. He noted that Sindh has long been a cradle of art and culture, where stage performers have consistently demonstrated their talent through compelling performances.

Shah said the provincial culture department is taking practical steps to promote theatre and ensure the welfare of artists. He emphasised that stage drama remains one of the most effective ways to convey human emotions and social issues directly to the public.

The minister added that efforts are underway to revive meaningful and socially responsible theatre in Sindh, with a focus on engaging the younger generation and keeping them connected to the arts.

He also underlined the government’s commitment to showcasing Sindh’s Sufi message and folk stories on a global stage through theatre.

Calling artists a valuable asset, Shah said their encouragement and patronage remain a top priority for the Sindh government.

He concluded by saying that World Theatre Day serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving this ancient art form, reaffirming the government’s resolve to further enhance Sindh’s cultural identity and revitalise its stage traditions.
