Moby is revisiting his long-running feud with Eminem and sharing a different assessment of the rapper 25 years later.

The electronic artist, 60, shared his recent views in a new interview with The Times, published February 20, now describing Eminem as “very progressive” and “very smart,” particularly for speaking out against US President Donald Trump and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“As time has passed, Eminem’s proven himself to be very progressive, very smart. When he speaks out against Trump, against ICE, I’m like, ‘Wow, kudos to you.’ Eminem’s followers… they’re middle America and very inclined towards supporting Trump,” he said.

“No one’s surprised if Mark Ruffalo or me or whoever speaks out against Trump,” Moby added.

The tension between the two artists dates back to the 2001 Grammy Awards, where Moby criticised Eminem backstage, calling his lyrics misogynistic and homophobic. At the time, Eminem was nominated for four awards for his album The Marshall Mathers LP.

Eminem fired back in his 2002 hit Without Me, mocking Moby in a now-infamous verse. Moby later addressed the diss on his blog, saying he found it amusing, though he stood by his earlier criticism of music that he felt glorified abuse and discrimination.

Reflecting further during a 2023 appearance on Steve-O’s Wild Ride, Moby admitted he may have escalated the feud with a tongue-in-cheek MTV comment suggesting Eminem was “closeted,” a remark he now acknowledges likely fueled the conflict.

On the work front, Moby recently released his 23rd studio album, Future Quiet, on Feb. 20 and is slated to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2026.
