The Cinema Audio Society will present its highest honor to Skip Lievsay at its 62nd annual CAS Awards in the spring. The Oscar winner and eight-time nominee will pick up the 2026 Career Achievement Award on March 7.

The veteran re-recording mixer took home a Sound Mixing Academy Award for Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity (2013) and got noms for both Sound Mixing and Sound Editing for Cuarón’s Roma (2018) and the Coen brothers films True Grit (2010) and No Country for Old Men (2007) along with a Sound Mixing nom for the duo’s Inside Llewyn Davis (2013).

Lievsay’s other credits during his Goodfellas, The Silence of the Lambs and the Coens’ Barton Fink, The Big Lebowski and The Tragedy of Macbeth. He also is three-time CAS Award winner and three-time Emmy nominee, the latter for 4 Little Girls, He Named Me Malala and Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie.

Known for his nuanced, story-driven approach, he has continually pushed the boundaries of what film sound can achieve, CAS said. He also is a mentor and advocate for sound professionals, inspiring generations through his dedication to the craft.

“Skip’s work represents the pinnacle of our craft,” CAS President Peter Kurland said. “His artistry and creativity have shaped the sound of some of the most celebrated films of our time. Skip’s collaborations with visionary directors and his extraordinary ear for storytelling have left an indelible mark on the industry. It’s been my honor to have worked with Skip for several decades, including sharing previous CAS Awards with him.”

Said Lievsay: “I’m deeply honored to receive this recognition from the Cinema Audio Society. Sound mixing is an intensely collaborative art, and I’ve had the great fortune to work with incredibly talented filmmakers, mixers and editors over my career. To be recognized by my peers, people whose work I deeply admire, means the world to me.”
