A nearly 50-acre farm along Little Sugar Creek near Bentonville is opening in phases, featuring an organic working farm, farm stand, guesthouse and restaurant Ryn, according to a Wednesday (June 11) news release.
Sun Painted Farm is at 9617 Price Coffee Road, north of Arkansas Highway 72.
Friends Paul Esterer and Chef Matthew Cooper are the owners. They agreed to first build their family homes on the land and then develop the property into a sustainable farmstead, farm-to-table restaurant and guest experience.
The restaurant is set to open June 19. The guesthouse can accommodate groups of up to 10 people and is accepting overnight reservations. The farm’s fields, greenhouses and bee hives are in production. The farm stand will open daily to the public by late summer.
For more than 30 years, Esterer’s career has focused on restoring real estate, developing and sustaining properties “that provide communities with a sense of place,” the release shows. Esterer invested in the original Schell/Coffee homestead on Price Coffee Road in 2020.
“Our families are thrilled to share this historic property and farm with the community,” Esterer said. “We feel truly fortunate to be part of this remarkable region, surrounded by wonderful people and outstanding outdoor experiences.”
Cooper is a three-time James Beard Award nominee and owner of Conifer in downtown Bentonville. Cooper’s new concept, Ryn, features a seasonal menu using Sun Painted Farm’s produce and other food sourced from area producers, ranchers and artisans, according to the release. Ryn is by reservation only and will offer multi-course tasting experiences.
