Nike Air Diamond Turf 2 ‘Prime Red’ Release Date HQ2631-600

It’s been nearly a full year since news of a Deion Sanders’ Nike Air Diamond Turf 2 reissue surfaced and now, the release is just days away.

For the first time since 2012, Nike will rerelease Sanders’ second signature sneaker in its original red-and-gold San Francisco 49ers-inspired color palette. More specifically, the shoe features a combination of Fire Red/White/Black/Metallic Gold, which Nike is actually calling Prime Red, a nod to Sanders’ nickname, on its official e-commerce marketing. 

After a 14-year hiatus, the Air Diamond Turf 2 will return in a form that’s the most faithful to the original 1994 version. The upcoming release features personalized Sanders details including his uniform number, 21, on the rubberized tongue badge, as well as his logo on the heel. The colors of the shoe remain accurate, with a bright red nubuck upper, white leather overlays, black details and a 49ers-appropriate gold mesh underlay and heel Nike Air embroidery.

Given the true-to-original changes made to this reissue, the upcoming Air Diamond Turf 2 iteration will be as close as the model has come to the ’94 version yet.

While Sanders wore a cleated version of the Air Diamond Turf 2 on the field, Nike offered a non-cleat version for lifestyle consumers. The off-field variation features Air cushioning and a full-length foam midsole for casual comfort.

In addition to this Prime Red pair, the Air Diamond Turf 2 is expected to be released in its original white-based “49ers” style. Further colorways have not been confirmed, but the model is also expected to receive new looks during this latest retro campaign. 

The Nike Air Diamond Turf 2 Prime Red will be released Feb. 6 from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Nike Sportswear retailers for $170. The sneaker’s style code is HQ2631-600.
