In a recent update, the Ministry of Railways has officially announced a price hike in tickets. The new fare will come into effect on December 26, 2025. It is a modest but significant hike as it is going to impact overall ticketing revenue. Understanding the new fare Under the revised fare structure, there won’t be fare hike for:Suburban (local) train services.Monthly Season Tickets (MST) used by daily commuters.Ordinary class travel for distances up to 215 km. For example, a trip of 500 km in a non-AC coach will now cost approximately INR 10 more than before under this new fare structure. This fare hike is applicable only on the base passenger price.
