Ashley McBryde is taking a break from speaking in order to protect her voice, but she’s doing it in a way that keeps her fans close.

On Wednesday, August 6, the country singer let her followers know what’s going on, using a silent but creative method.

In an Instagram video, McBryde, 42, held up handwritten notes to explain that she’s currently on vocal rest due to a throat injury.

“Hi guys! So … I hurt my throat,” she wrote, followed by a note that read, “So, NO TALKING if I want to be able to sing to you.”

She encouraged her fans to join her in learning a bit of American Sign Language, suggesting simple phrases like,

“Hi! Nice to meet you! Good to see you!” as a way to still engage during meet-and-greets. “That way we don’t have to cancel meet + greets. Let’s try together,” she added.

Along with the video, McBryde captioned the post, “Trybe, doc says I’m working on busted up vocal cords. The last thing I wanna do is cancel any meet greets or Heaven forbid SHOWS. So let’s try this for this week!”

Her fans, who call themselves the Trybe, immediately showed support in the comments, cheering her on for prioritizing her health while staying committed to her performances.

McBryde has a string of live shows still lined up through the rest of the month, and she’s expected to wrap her tour with a special event called The Redemption Residency at Chief’s in Nashville on December 12.

She announced those final shows on Instagram just days earlier, writing, “If you’ve been around since the bar days, we’ve already shared one hell of a ride. Now it’s all coming full circle with something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time. I’m excited to announce The Redemption Residency at Chief’s in Nashville.”

Back in June, the One Night Standards singer dropped her latest single, Rattlesnake Preacher.

A few days before its release, McBryde shared a teaser clip with a powerful message, “This one is for the folks who aren’t afraid to kick down the doors standing in their way.”

Now, with a quiet but determined approach, she’s doing just that, facing a vocal setback while staying present for her fans in every way she can.
